November 3, 2020  is not the finish line. Removing Trump isn’t the end goal.  Biden is not the prize. The prize is the chance to move in a new direction. The prize is controlling who ends up on the Supreme Court for the next four years.  The prize is knowing we have a president who cares for ALL of us, no matter our skin color, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or occupation.  The prize is a chance to watch our 2018 election class continue to grow their influence under a Biden Administration.  November 3, 2020 holds the key to a new direction. But, we have to get to the door first. Vote Blue for a chance at the prize.

Most teachers have a Voice Level Chart in their classrooms. They look something like this: 0 = No talking 1 = Whisper 2 = Partner Talk 3 = Presentation 4 = Outside So, at any point during the day, the teacher can say “Give me a 2 voice level”, or “Okay, everyone is at a Zero now”, and the students know how to regulate their voices. What I’ve found is that the hardest voice level for students to maintain is the Whisper (1). For some reason, kids can get to a zero and stay there (for the most part).They understand that no talking means NO talking. Pretty easy concept, even for the youngest of students. Partner Talk (2) is easier, too, because that’s their "normal" voice level. It’s how we communicate on a daily basis. It’s our natural state of being.  But, to moderate themselves at a Whisper, between a Zero (0) and Partner Talk (2)? And to maintain that voice level? That’s next to impossible. Fuck Rush Limbaugh.  Predictably, Rush is continuing to spread his virulent homophobia till the bitter end (see article below). Why wouldn't he, though? We’ve sat back and accepted his ugly brand of hate speech as a form of “entertainment” for decades, to the point where it has became  normalized by too large a swath of people. His radio show has done wonders in moving the homophobia , racism , and misogyny of the Republican party into the mainstream. I used to listen to Rush as a teenager in Indiana back in the late 80's. My sheltered upbringing (I grew up in a small, all-white town) allowed me to believe that Rush's worldview actually made sense. It wasn't until I moved away from that simplistic upbringing, and made my way west to Los Angeles, that I had my eyes opened to the truth of the lies and hatred he spread on a daily basis.
